I’ve always been a voracious reader. You know, the kind of person who has a book in their bag “just in case,” even if I know I won’t get a single moment to read. But like most things in life, my reading rhythm has its seasons. For the past few years, I found myself in an ebb.
After relocating and diving into the demands of a new job, my usual reading life, once lively and constant, became more of a flicker. I still read here and there, but the stack of finished books grew slower and the TBR pile collected more dust than dents.
Then, something shifted. A few coworkers and I started spending lunch together, and naturally, the conversation drifted to books. We began swapping recommendations, sharing reactions, and reliving twists and turns over lunch. That spark—the one that makes your fingers itch to turn the next page—started flickering again.
The 52 Book Club Challenge felt like the perfect invitation to ride that momentum. With its creative prompts and supportive community, it gave me both structure and inspiration. I love that it nudges me out of my comfort zone, encouraging me to explore new genres, forgotten titles, and books I might otherwise pass by.
This challenge isn’t about perfection or pressure—it’s about rediscovering joy. Reconnecting with the part of me that sees a book not just as a story, but as a passport, a puzzle, a cozy companion, or a delightful surprise.
I first dipped into the challenge at the tail end of 2023 and—like many half-finished bookmarks—I didn’t quite make it to the end. But despite not completing the prompts, I still read 66 books in 2024! That momentum lit a fire, so for 2025, I set an ambitious goal: 100 books. I plan to complete all 52 prompts (and then some), using the challenge as both a guide and a gentle nudge toward variety.
If you’re looking to shake up your reading life or just need a spark to get back into the habit, I highly recommend giving the 52 Book Club Challenge a try. It’s flexible, creative, and—best of all—it makes picking your next read feel like an adventure.
