⏩ Read if you love:

well written indigenous fiction.
stories where fate takes a hand in the outcome.
❌ Skip if you hate:
death of animals in books.
dark, tense, supernaturally connected horror.
dealing with complex emotions. If you can read this book without dealing with the fallout some of these characters face, I am not sure you should consider yourself human.
🏅 Best Character Award Goes To:
It has to be Lewis. His storyline and Jones’ writing help bring him off the page in a way few can. I felt like became a fly on the wall and just wanted more with each turn of the page (of his storyline).
🖤 Biggest Emotional Gut Punch:
It comes in the first third of the book and truly was a gut punch. I won’t give too much away, but when Lewis’ story unfolds you can’t help but feel an intense like (if not love) for the guy and how he has made his life better. Then, … BAM! It took me a few days to recover and go back to the story after what happens happens.
🎯 Final Take: The pacing of this story seemed a bit disjointed and if I ever re-read it, this may make perfect sense for the story being told. However, it did cause me to take much longer to read than it should have because I kept feeling like I was going nowhere in the story. For me, this is what kept it from a 4.
⭐⭐⭐ 3 – Solid Plotline–Enjoyable but not a standout.
