Thank you for your interest in having me review your book! I’m excited to collaborate with authors and publishers to share great stories with my readers. Below are the details about my review process, preferences, and submission guidelines.
What I Review
I read and review a variety of genres, with a focus on the following:
- Mystery and Thriller: Including cozy mysteries, police procedurals, and psychological thrillers.
- Historical Fiction: any era from 1790 – 1960
- Horror: From gothic to supernatural to psychological horror.
- Romance: Contemporary, historical, and romantic suspense.
- Fantasy: Both high fantasy and urban fantasy.
I’m open to other genres if the premise intrigues me, so feel free to pitch your work! However, I do not typically review:
- Self-help
- Religious or political works
- Non-fiction
What to Expect in My Reviews
- Honest Opinions: All reviews reflect my personal thoughts and will include both positives and constructive critiques.
- Length and Format: My reviews are typically 500–800 words and include a brief summary, discussion of the story, characters, and writing style, and my overall impressions.

- Spoilers: My reviews will clearly indicate if they contain spoilers. I aim to make most reviews spoiler-free unless specified.
Submission Guidelines
- Formats Accepted: I accept ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies) and digital copies in formats such as ePub or PDF. While I appreciate physical copies, digital submissions are preferred for convenience.
- Information to Include:
- Title, genre, and word count
- Synopsis or back-cover blurb
- Release date (if applicable)
- Relevant links (e.g., Goodreads, Amazon, or author website)
- How to Submit:
- Please email your request to galenathepoet@gmail.com. Include “Book Review Request” in the subject line.
- I will respond within 5-7 business days if I am interested in reviewing your book.
Review Timeline
- I aim to review books within 4-6 weeks of acceptance. If you have a specific deadline (e.g., for a release date or blog tour), please let me know, and I’ll do my best to accommodate.
- Due to the volume of requests I receive, I cannot guarantee a review for every submission.
Disclosure
- A book review marked with an ARC label means the book was provided to me by the author or publisher in exchange for an honest review. This will not impact the rating of the book. All of my reviews contain my honest opinions.
- All reviews are unpaid and unbiased. Accepting a review copy does not guarantee a positive review.
- Reviews will be posted on my blog and shared on #Bookstagram, Goodreads, Story Graph, and Bluesky. If you’d like the review shared elsewhere, please specify.
